Restorative Places
"I began creating this body of work during the Covid lockdown. My subject is what I turn to when anxiety is high. A daily walk, combing the beach and exploring nearby trails, rain, or shine. Nature is where I find instant mindfulness. Inside my studio I recreate these places captured in my mind’s eye, re-living the experience and sharing it with others."
Lara Williams is a classically trained painter and printmaker from Long Island, NY. After receiving her BA in painting from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1992, she moved to Boston to pursue an Art Career. After many successful years showing and selling her Artwork, she set it aside to raise her twin sons. In 2019, Inspired by a magazine article about a contemporary female artist working with the Ancient Medium Encaustic, Lara set up an art studio in her home in Hull, MA., to teach it to herself. She instantly fell in love with the beeswax-based medium, rejuvenating her passion for painting and re-emerging back into the public eye.
